IEEE is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity.
The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka established in 1956 was the successor to the then Engineering Association of Ceylon which was founded in 1906 at Anuradhapura by a few dedicated engineers serving in the public sector, with the objective of providing general advancement of science and practice of engineering in all disciplines concerned according to rules agreed to by its members.
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) was formed in March 2006 by a merger of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) and the Institution of Incorporated Engineers (IIE), has more than 150,000 members worldwide in 127 countries. IET members operate almost 100 Local Networks as well as 21 Technical and Professional Networks.
ITU (International Telecommunication Union) is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies – ICTs. ITU allocate global radio spectrum and satellite orbits, develop the technical standards that ensure networks and technologies seamlessly interconnect, and strive to improve access to ICTs to underserved communities worldwide.
